Highest Return Mutual Funds of the Last 10 Years in India (2026)

Live · updated 2026-09-16   Ranked by data, refreshed from daily NAVs

The raw 10-year champions by CAGR, with a caution built into the page: raw return ignores the ride - check each fund's drawdown before being impressed. This page is recomputed from NAV data every day, so it cannot go stale, and every fund on it links to a full research page with returns, risk, SIP outcomes, holdings and manager track record.

These are the raw compounding champions of the last decade - the funds that turned money into the most money over ten years, full stop. A 20% CAGR over 10 years turns ₹1 lakh into ₹6.2 lakh; the funds below have done that or better, through at least one full market cycle including the 2020 crash.

Now the honest caution this list demands: raw 10-year return hides the ride. Some funds on it made their investors endure 50%+ falls on the way, and most people who actually held them earned far less than the published CAGR because they entered late, exited early, or both. Read this list next to its worst-fall column, and remember that the last decade's champion list and the next decade's rarely match. History is a record, not a forecast.

Over the last 1 year, the funds on this list averaged 4.2% - the best, DSP World Mining Overseas Equity Omni FoF, returned 62.3% while the weakest managed -89.3%. That spread is why picking within the funds on this list matters. Over 10 years the average compounding rate is 11.1% a year, which turned ₹1 lakh into about ₹286,500.

Put the risk number in rupees: at the average worst fall of -25.2%, ₹1 lakh temporarily becomes about ₹74,800. That is the stretch every ranked fund's investors had to sit through at some point - the ranking rewards the funds that made that wait worthwhile.

Momentum check: what is hot right now

As of 2026-09-16, 95 of the 522 funds here rate RS 90 or above (top-decile recent momentum versus peers). The strongest momentum belongs to Nippon India Conservative Hybrid Fund (RS 99/99). Average return over the last 3 months: 0.7%; over 6 months: 5.0%. Momentum is a snapshot, not a ranking criterion here - but it tells you whether this corner of the market is currently in favour.

Before you pick a 10-year performer: four checks

  1. Read each fund's drawdown history before being impressed - most decade champions charged a brutal toll on the way.
  2. Check who managed the fund through the record (manager section on its page) - a record under a departed manager is history twice over.
  3. Compare the 10-year figure with the median rolling return: a big gap means the average investor's experience was far worse than the headline.
  4. Ask what the fund owns today - a decade-old record says nothing about whether its current portfolio can repeat it.

How to read the table

RS (1-99) is recent momentum versus category peers - 99 is the hottest right now. King (0-100) is the long-term quality composite this list is ranked by. 3M/6M are recent returns; 3Y and 5Y CAGR are annualised longer records. Sharpe is return earned per unit of volatility - higher means smoother compounding. Roll 3Y is the median of every 3-year holding period in the fund's history, the fairest single return number a fund has. Worst fall is the deepest peak-to-bottom loss ever - the number that tests whether you would have stayed invested. Missing values show as n/a, usually because the fund is too young for that measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best 10-year performer right now?

On our data-driven ranking as of 2026-09-16, UTI - Overnight Fund scores highest (King Score 68/100). That is a description of its record versus peers, not a recommendation - rankings move as NAVs update, and the right fund depends on your goals and risk tolerance.

Will these funds repeat this over the next 10 years?

Nobody knows, and the base rates are humbling: decade-topping funds are frequently mid-pack the following decade, because the styles and sectors that led one cycle rarely lead the next. Use this list as a record of what compounding at 56.0%-class rates looks like, not as a prediction.

Why is 10-year CAGR different from what investors actually earned?

CAGR assumes one investment at the start, held untouched for ten years. Real investors add money over time, often after good years, and withdraw after bad ones - so the money-weighted return most people earned in these funds is lower than the published CAGR. The SIP numbers on each fund's page are usually the more honest mirror.

What is the average 1-year return of 10-year performers right now?

As of 2026-09-16, the 522 qualifying funds averaged 4.2% over the last year (median 4.5%). The best, DSP World Mining Overseas Equity Omni FoF, returned 62.3%; the weakest returned -89.3%. One year is weather, not climate - check the 5 and 10 year columns before drawing conclusions.

Which 10-year performer gave the highest return in the last 10 years?

UTI - Overnight Fund leads with 67.0% a year over 10 years - ₹1 lakh became about ₹16,871,900 pre-tax. The average across funds with a 10-year record is 11.1% a year. A decade-long record says a lot about the past and nothing certain about the next decade.

How is this list ranked?

Schemes with 10+ years of history, sorted by 10-year CAGR (AUM above ₹100 crore). The full formulas are public - see our methodology page. No fund pays to be here and rankings cannot be bought.

Should I invest in the #1 fund on this list?

We cannot tell you that - MF Terminal is descriptive research, not investment advice. A top rank says the past record was strong versus peers. Read the fund's full page, check the drawdowns you would have to sit through, and decide against your own horizon.
